Customizing the Appearance of Menu Text

Customizing the Appearance of Menu Text

Learn how to customize the appearance of Menu Text, or Menu Groups.
Menu Groups are a special type of text field for menu content that makes it easy to organize and customize menu items. Each Menu Group can include a section Name with Notes, and contain multiple menu Items, with each field of text having its own customization options.

Most templates will display sample content in Menu Group text boxes.

Customize Menu Groups

The appearance of text can be customized through Style, Spacing, and Layout.

Style

From within the design editor, select a Menu Group.  This will load the Text tab.   From there, select the word Style from the left panel.

Style contains options relating to font style, text size, text color, and the ability to Bold, Underline, Italicize, and make text UPPERCASE.
Style is broken out by Groups, which contains Names and Notes, and Items.

For Names and Notes, formatting options under Style include:
Font Style, Text Size, Bold, Underline, Italicize, UPPERCASE, Alignment, and Text Color.

For menu Items, formatting options under Style include:
Font Style, Text Size, BoldUnderlineItalicize, UPPERCASE, and Text Color.
Alert
Alignment options for menu Items will Layout.
Select a desired field and edit as needed.

Notes
Note: Each text section contains a button that says Apply to all.  This will apply the current Style to all Menu Groups on the design.
Apply to all will need to be applied to Names, then Notes, then Items to apply the styling to all instances of that text type throughout the design.

Spacing

Select a Menu Group on the canvas.  This will load the Text tab.   From there, select the word Spacing from the left panel.

Spacing is broken out by Group NamesNotes, and Items.

Spacing options include:
Letter Spacing: The space between letters in a word.  This affects spacing horizontally, or left to right.
Line Height: The space between lines of text (E.g. Single spacing, double spacing).  This affects spacing vertically, or top to bottom.
Group Names and Notes have a Space Below option.  Adjusting this will affect the space beneath the Name or Note, which can be useful if adding a line or other design element.

Items have additional spacing options.
Name Height: Similar to Space Below on Names and Notes, adjusting Name Height will increase or decrease the space on top of and beneath a menu Item.
Between Items: Adjusts the amount of space between menu Items (which consists of a menu item Name, Description, Price, and Extras).
Above Extras: Adjusts the amount of space above the Extras text.
Between Prices: If there are multiple prices listed for a single menu Item, this will adjust the spacing between two or more prices.
Drag the gray dot left or right on the slider to adjust spacing as desired.
NotesNote: Above each option is a button to Apply to all.  This will apply the current Spacing to all Menu Groups on a design.

Layout

Select a Menu Group on the canvas.  This will load the Text tab.   From there, select the word Layout from the left panel.

Layout contains the ability to add Columns to menu Items, and offers different options for the ordering of text and presentation of menu Items.

Columns
One, two, and three column layout options are available, and can be applied to menu Items.  Column Spacing can be adjusted with the slider.
